Bianca and Karina

I was lusting after the Bianca lace-up in the Gold Dot site. I was waiting for some extra moolah before placing an order, but when I was ready to order, it was already sold out. Boo hoo.

Then I saw Ichigo's Karina, and I was in love all over again.

The tan version was sold out in my size so I got the cream ones. But I think they look almost white already.

Injured

Whenever I'm having a sh*tty day, I look at my cute shoes and smile. Thus, I've taken to sometimes wearing my oxfords to work. However, it's either I walk too long or too hard, and I discovered that a couple of my oxfords are "injured", i.e. the soles are cracked. :( I hope I can still have them re-soled or something. :(

Just sharing.

More Oxfords Lovin'

I'm feeling a bit emo today. So I searched for oxfords pics:

I love the unexpected red on this pair from Shopheartbeats.

But you can't beat the classics.

Hope y'all are having a better Thursday!

Brogue Meets Ballet Flats

Due to my daily commute, I've come to live in comfy flat shoes. Since our uniforms leave something to be desired, I'm on the look out for cute flats. So I was so excited when I saw these Brogues from Suelas - ordered pronto!

I'm a size 8, but after checking their size guide, I thought 7 1/2 would be a snug fit. I wasn't mistaken.

Suelas are foldable, "flat-table" and "roll-able" flats and come with their own bag. The Brogues are lined in leather and has rubber soles - perfect for not slipping on wet LRT floors. I checked the outsoles, I saw stitches although they are likewise glued to the uhm, welt (?).

I pound the pavement a lot so I'm glad to report that they are very comfy. Although I went half a size lower, my toes aren't pinched at all. Needless to say, I'm very in ♥ with the brogue design. :)

My *First* Ichigo Oxfords

Despite the perforations, I think this pair is considered oxfords more than brogues. 'Tis my very first pair of Ichigos, after failing to get Kenny in my size.

Navy blue Vera in soft patent leather:

Just noticed that Ichigo described this pair as a jazz shoe in brogue. This oxfords-brogues-jazz shoe stuff is still quite confusing! :P

Note the *first*. Well, I'm still wishing for my own Kenny!

Brogued Pumps

My first purchase after falling in love with oxfords and brogues was a pair of pumps. Weird right? But how can you not fall for these:

Oxfords or Brogues?

What's the difference?

According to Wikipedia:

The Brogue is a style of low-heeled shoe or boot traditionally characterized by multiple-piece, sturdy leather uppers with decorative perforations (or "brogueing") and serration along the pieces' visible edges.

whilst

An Oxford is a style of laced shoe characterized by shoelace eyelet tabs that are stitched underneath the vamp, a construction method that is also sometimes referred to as "closed lacing."

Easy, if your lace-up shoes have perforations, they're brogues. I've associated oxfords and brogues with London/England, but these really first appeared in Scotland and Ireland.

I'm a new fan of oxfords and brogues. This pair from Ichigo Shoes sparked my interest, though I failed to get it in my size:

Join me as I chronicle my search for oxfords and brogues - whether in stores or through photos online (because sometimes, my hubby and wallet won't cooperate). :)
